What is it with horses? We love them so much. Here’s how these amazing animals got into our lives.
Almost 10 years ago, I started doing a craft show at the New Jersey State Fair and Horse Show. Our booth was in the “horse tent” at the far end of the fair. The riders from the horse show started visiting our booth and came to love purchasing from us. We kept returning because of the the great following we had with the riders and their families. After the 4th year, we got a corner booth, looking right into the ring... and that’s when we really started “seeing” the horses for the first. That when I knew I wanted to learn to ride horses.
4 years later, I have been taking lessons and riding at farm up here in northern Vermont and loving every minute of it. But one day... one tragic day... my leased horse, “Hairy” got kicked by his pen mate and broke his leg. That’s when Hairy left me. And everywhere I looked, I felt his spirit. I wanted to cherish his spirit and have it remembered in a special way.
That’s when I decided to work at making horse-hair jewelry. I want riders to be able to cherish the spirit of their horse... whether it’s alive or passed. I wanted to be able to create beautiful, elegant pieces of horse-hair jewelry what will protect the horse’s hair, and be sturdy enough to be worn by riders who get their hands dirty. The Treasured Horse was conceived. With my 20 years of making and selling jewelry, and my husband’s 10 years of silversmithing and CAD design expertise... we were able to create a body of work that would be worthy of our dream of creating horse-hair jewelry that would be elegant and substantial.
“Specializing in horse-hair jewelry, TTH helps to cherish the spirit of your horse…”
Specializing in horse-hair jewelry, the Treasured Horse helps to cherish the spirit of your beloved horse. Our pieces are made with precious metals (Sterling Silver, 14K and 18K gold) to provide elegance and durability for everyday life. Proudly made in Vermont.
One should never have to sacrifice durability for beauty. Our philosophy is built into every piece we make. Very little hair is used… but it is well protected inside allowing you to wear your beautiful piece and be able to live the life of an able equestrian.
