A Connection Worth Keeping Close
If you've loved a horse, you know how much can be held in that relationship: early mornings, quiet barn aisles, long rides, and the trust built over years together.
Horse hair jewelry turns a small collection of your horse's hair into a personal keepsake. The strands are braided by hand and incorporated into a ring, bracelet, or necklace.
Whether your horse is still beside you or remembered with love, it's a way to carry a little of that connection with you.
More Than Jewelry
For some, it's a reminder of a first pony who taught them to ride. For others, it's a beloved competition partner, a steady companion through life's challenges, or a horse whose memory they want to keep close.
While many people discover horse hair jewelry after losing a horse, it can be just as meaningful to celebrate that relationship while you're still making memories together.
A custom piece might commemorate a first horse, a special milestone, years of partnership, or simply the joy of having that horse in your life.
Every piece begins with your own horse’s hair, but its meaning comes from the story behind it.
That's what makes it truly irreplaceable.
A Piece Made From Your Horse
From rich blacks and warm chestnuts to silvery grays, flaxen blondes, and beautiful combinations of colors, each horse's hair has its own natural character.
At The Treasured Horse, we preserve those natural variations as we carefully prepare and handcraft your horse's hair into a piece of fine jewelry.
Whether you choose a bracelet, ring, or necklace, the finished piece carries something truly personal: a part of your own horse, transformed into jewelry you can treasure for years to come.
Crafted to Be Worn, Not Hidden Away
A meaningful keepsake deserves more than a place in a jewelry box. At The Treasured Horse, we combine your horse's hair with sterling silver or 14kt gold to create jewelry you'll enjoy wearing.
Each piece is handcrafted using your horse's hair, incorporated into sterling silver or 14kt gold. From braiding individual strands to the finishing details of the metalwork, every step receives personal attention.

The Story Is Yours. The Design Should Be Too.
Some people want a simple, understated piece they can wear every day. Others prefer something more elaborate, with a special engraving, a meaningful gemstone, or a design that celebrates their horse's personality.
We believe your jewelry should be as individual as the relationship it represents.
Choose from sterling silver and 14kt gold designs, including rings, bracelets, and necklaces. Many pieces can be personalized with engraving, gemstones, or hair from more than one horse.
Because the most meaningful jewelry doesn't just tell a story. It tells your story.
How Your Horse's Hair Becomes a Treasured Keepsake
Choosing and sending the hair
Tail hair is preferred, ideally 10–12 inches long. The amount needed depends on your design, so follow the instructions in the individual product description before collecting and sending it. Mane hair may also be suitable. If your hair is shorter or you have only a small amount, contact us before ordering so we can help you choose a piece that will work.
You don't need to wash the hair first. Secure it in a labeled zip-top bag and use a padded mailer to protect it in transit. Our horse hair jewelry FAQ has current packaging, shipping, and ordering details.
Preparing and braiding
Once the hair arrives, we clean, sort, and prepare the strands needed for your piece. Each bundle is individually labeled and organized throughout the process, preserving the identity of the horse it came from.
The hair is braided by hand using a technique suited to your design. Some pieces can incorporate hair from multiple horses. The finished braid is then fitted into the jewelry, and the piece is assembled and finished.
Any unused hair is returned with your completed jewelry. We know it may be all you have, and we treat it accordingly.
Caring for your finished piece
Our inlaid horse hair is recessed in resin within a protective channel. Avoid prolonged soaking in pools or hot tubs and exposure to harsh chemicals. Store your jewelry in a dry place and wipe it gently with a soft cloth. See our full jewelry care instructions for cleaning the inlay, polishing the metal, and caring for cuff bracelets.
A Bond That Lasts a Lifetime
Every horse leaves a mark on our lives. Some are with us for decades, others for far too short a time. But the memories, the lessons, the adventures, and the quiet moments stay with us.
At The Treasured Horse, we understand that the hair you entrust to us is so much more than a material. It's a connection to a horse who has been part of your story.
Whether you're celebrating a horse still by your side or remembering one you've had to say goodbye to, we're honored to help you carry a little piece of that bond with you.
Because some connections are simply too special to leave behind.
